Earths Moon

December - 9 - 2011

The Moon has been formed thanks to a giant impact after which the Moon and the Earth have taken their roles. The Moon is very small in comparison with Earth for instance; it is 420 miles wide and also, it is made from iron, sulfur and other components. The lunar surface by weight is 43% oxygen, 20% silicon, 19%magnesium, 10% iron, 3% calcium, 3% aluminum, 0.42% chromium, 0,18% titanium and 0,12% manganese. The distance between Earth and the Moon is of 238,855 miles, by far smaller that the distance between Earth and Sun. The eclipses take place for once in a while, and when it does, the Earth goes straight between the Sun and the Moon, making a straight line. A solar eclipse may interfere with Earth only when having a new Moon.

We know seasons thanks to our planet’s axis of rotation. Unfortunately, some of them have not been so lucky, and now we are referring to the Moon. Because of its axis of about 1.5 degrees in comparison with the Earth’s axis of about 23.5 degrees, we have in front of us the fact that the Moon does not have practically a single season. This means that some areas are always in the light, while the other are drown in the darkness.

The Moon is the brightest object we know so far from our galaxy. The first ones which have deduced this fact were the ancient Greeks, who knew there was something orbiting around our planet. Also, Galileo was the first who has used a telescope to observe the Moon rotations and also it gave the start of explorations on the mysterious Moon. Later on, there were a lot of men who explored the Moon and provided important data regarding this natural satellite which represents the object orbiting our planet.

This was the beginning, but what would be the end of this process? Although, the Moon is essentially in our lives as the Sun. what would be life without Moon? Think about it this night, before going to bad. Take a glance and look over the shielding natural satellite which defends you from any hazard all over the night. In plus, it offers you light when no Sun is up. Even in a small quantity, it is necessarily for the entire process of day and night to end up in good shape and knowledge.

Because of its small dimensions, the Moon has finally lost its major importance, and the next on the list is Mars. We are about to find out how is like to step on a real planet besides Earth, but all this could be realized thanks to the Moon’s exploration.
